The Seeds of Love

And Adriane Elaine

dug up from beneath the plains

the seeds of love

we lost a long time ago

This blog completes the series for the song Adriane Elaine. It is hard to describe the power this song carries in my heart and spirit. This song has been the torch I have run through the dark with in generating the courage to continue pressing forward to the end, and the end is nearing now. It is with a bittersweet twinge that I write this blog, but more sweet than bitter.

The Bible says, "Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

As I have spent the better part of the last several years thumbing through pictures, reading through notes, listening to stories retold, the eyes of my heart have been shifted and refocused on the truth of who my family was and is. I have seen and come to earnestly appreciate the honorable legacy my ancestors left. I have seen and grown in understanding the just reality of a difficult decision my family had to face concerning my grandfather. I have come to recognize the purity of heart of the family as a whole. It has been so pleasing to delve into it all. I commend the family members that are still involved in the cattle business - still forging ahead come hell or high water, and I see excellence in community and culture building ethics these business men and women have imparted over the years and continue to pass on. And without a doubt, the way God has blessed and continues to bless and move within this wild and wonderful family, full of such rich character, is truly praise worthy. My heart has been forever changed by it all. I have never been a part of anything quite like this and am sure I never will again.

So, let me tell you who Adriane Elaine is. She is an amalgamation of us all. She is the child inside of us all who simply wants to connect with her people in deep-rooted love. She wants all the bitter to fall away and be left standing with nothing remaining but the sweet. She wants to meld with her source - her bloodline, and find treasure in the rest it offers. She wants to find shelter and safety in that place, as it was designed to provide. She wants to discover comfort through her identity within it. She wants to fold her own children into it and she wants this act to be a blessing to all. That's who she is. She is me. She is you.

May we all return to love in this way and see the beauty in it all. May we stay secured, stabilized, and quieted there. Yes, may we all be planted in the abundant, life-giving soil of heritage.

LOVE to all,

Jill
